HALLOWEEN STORY

There lived a girl who did not believe in such creatures as witches, orks, goblins… She used to think that all of them can be seen only in cartoons and horror films. She used to perceive all of them like something impossible, something that she will never meet in a real life.
 She knew that every year approximately at the same time people celebrate one and the same holiday which is called Halloween.
  Once, just before this holiday she and her friends were having a slumber party and began to exchange the ghost stories.
   One girl claimed that the old man who had been buried earlier that week in the grave-yard down the street had been buried alive. She claimed that if you tried, you could hear him still scratching at the lid of his coffin. The girl refused to do it. They said she was too afraid to go down there to the grave. So she agreed.
 Since she was going to go alone, she needed to prove to the others that she actually followed through with the task. She was supposed to take a stake with her and drive it into the ground so the next day the girls would know that she had been to the grave.
  She reached the gravesite and never returned….

Interview

Who are you?
 My name is Nick Lutsenko. I am 21.
Where do you live?
 I live in Kerch, the Crimea. I am the student of the English language department.
Nick, what interests do you have?
Speaking about me I want to share with you my interests. They are: sport (especially power lifting, bodybuilding and swimming), history and archaeology, philosophy and languages to some extent.
How did you learn English?
  I started learning English when I was about 5 years old. I was fond of it in this age learning it with a great interest. I absorbed the new information with a monstrous speed - and owing to it my English was comparatively good to the time I began to attend school.
 And what happened in school?
 In school I started to improve my knowledge – and I had an opportunity to do this. I had a great luck – my first teacher of English was really perfect one. She explained me why I need English in my life. Thus I was greatly motivated in learning English because even being 9-10 years old I knew that English is the language of world communication and so on.  It’s a pity, my next teachers were not so skilled in the process of teaching… And that’s why my English didn’t progress for several years.
Thus, when I decided to try to enter the English language department I had to attend some extra classes of English.
And I had luck in the second time – I found the really good, experienced teacher with the help of whom I greatly improved my English and, of course, entered the department I wanted. She explained me the only right way I should learn the language in order to know it well. I learned words, their pronunciation, their usage, grammatical constructions and the way they are used, I listened to the cassettes with voices of native speakers – all this noticeably improved my level of knowledge English.
Yes, I see…
As I have already mentioned, now I am the student of the English language department and I consider my English to be in comparatively good level.
What has English given you?
English has given me much:
  1. Satisfaction of knowing it in a comparatively good level;
  2. The ability to speak English and to use it in different spheres;
  3. The ability to read books of English-speaking writers in original;
  4. The ability to earn money using it.
